This was my favourite museum to visit by far.

The building itself is gorgeous and the numerous exhibits it offers are quite impressive, with Roman, Etruscan and early Christian artifacts as well as an impressive medieval art collection.

In some areas however, the museum is a bit lacking when it comes to communication, objects aren't always properly depicted, at least from a novice point of view. All the while, the National Museum remains a striking museum, and surpisingly affordable.

Good to know: every first Thursday of the month you can get in, free of charge. We were lucky to get there on that very same day and thought we'd share this useful piece of information.
